A four-year-old in France has accidentally shot his father with a hunting rifle, causing a serious foot injury.

The accident occurred on Sunday in Cournon d'Auvergne, a town in central France.

According to what is known, the boy was returning from hunting with his father in the car when they stopped to chat with friends who were also out hunting.

"The child shot a hunter's rifle and injured his father in the foot," a police spokesman told the AFP news agency. police source, adding that the exact circumstances of the accident were still unclear.

Dominique Busson, president of the local hunters' association, said that the hunters should have unloaded their rifles before the meeting but did not do so. According to him, the father's foot had to be amputated. He is said to be doing well under the circumstances.
