Car crashes into truck: Fire brigade can only free driver (†41) dead from wreckage

Weißenburg - A 41-year-old driver was killedin a serious head-on accident on state road 2222 in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen on Tuesday morning.

According to the police , the accident occurred at around 11.20 a.m. at "Banzermühle".

According to previous information, the man was driving his Peugeot from Pleinfeld in the direction of St. Veit.

For reasons as yet unknown, he crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into an oncoming truck. The car ended up heavily deformed on an adjacent field hill.

The front of the Peugeot was pushed together over the front axle in the accident. "The 41-year-old car driver was trapped and could only be rescued from his vehicle by the fire department", said the Middle Franconia police headquarters in the early afternoon.

"The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital." The truck of the 41-year-old trucker was also thrown into an adjacent field by the force of the collision.

The state road had to be completely closed in this area until well into the afternoon. "By order of the public prosecutor's office , an expert was called in to clarify the cause of the accident."
